The "Brian's Bracelet Program" Official Press Release
BALTIMORE - Summer 2008 - Brian Roberts, Baltimore Orioles second baseman and two-time All-Star, and GameWear, a leader in the sportswear accessories industry, have teamed up to create the Brian Bracelet's Program (www.briansbracelet.com). The Program features an Orioles-themed, baseball seam bracelet that turns one of this summer's hottest collectibles into a charitable, iconic accessory. All proceeds from Brian's Bracelet Program will fund important programs at the University of Maryland Hospital for Children (UMHC) to help make kids' hospital stays more comfortable.
Roberts faced his own health problems as a child. At the age of 5, he underwent open heart surgery. To help alleviate the stress for children facing similar issues, Roberts partnered with GameWear to create this must-have game gear for Orioles fans of all ages.
"When I had my heart surgery all I thought about was going home," said Roberts. "Going home is far-off for many hospitalized children so I wanted to help make their hospital stays a little more bearable. When GameWear came to me with this idea I knew it was a perfect fit since all the proceeds from Brian's Bracelet Program go to kids programs at UMHC."
Made of black genuine leather with orange baseball seam stitching, Brian's Bracelets feature a tag with the silhouettes of a baseball player and two children. Each bracelet is secured to the wrist by an elastic band and one size fits all baseball-beaded clasp. You can always find Roberts wearing his GameWear bracelet; during games and when he frequently visits children at UMHC to boost spirits and share baseball stories.
"Brian shows such compassion for these kids, it's remarkable." said Frank Cerullo, Chief Executive Officer of GameWear. "Brian's Bracelet Program really encompasses what we strive for at GameWear - authenticity, loyalty and a connection to a game we love. People who purchase and wear Brian's Bracelet know they're helping to make a difference for the kids at UMHC while showing their support for Maryland's favorite baseball team."
Brian's Bracelets from GameWear are the latest, stylish accessory for little leaguers young and old this summer. As fans root for the Orioles at Camden Yards, they'll have Brian's Bracelet as a constant reminder that they are supporting a worthy cause - bringing smiles to the faces of children at UMHC.
Brian's Bracelets are available for a limited time only. Perfect for all Birdland fans, Brian's Bracelets retail for approximately $10 each and are available exclusively at www.briansbracelet.com.
